New P5 packets? Or bs...?

NEW P5 packets seen in stream !!

The following packets have entered the stream and look to be for the Period5 card.

This could signify that the P4 will be phased out soon for the next generation card (P5/D1).

It could be true! But my brother subs to dave and he has a P4........Hasn't received any info from dave about going to a P5.

This from drphibes posted elsewhere seems to have killed any rumour of a card swap...

No this is not the equivalent of a swap.
My local installer has verified that he still gets P4s activated unless they came from ebay. DTv sent a p4 that he had installed less than two weeks ago. While I only log the VA packets, other reports are that these have been around for over a year. If they were new, then I would suggest that they were for the new logo/rethink card.Typically a period is defined by a change in encryption, there is nothing evidencing that. The visible keys shown on both 04 and 05 packets are the same, and the packet lis typical of a tier wipe/add. One conclusion might be that the D1 is using the 05 packet to do the same thing as the P4 is doing on the 04. Since DTV created the D1 designation, it may have been convenient for them to use the 05.
Confirmation from the guy that posted the first two packets that his card was a D1 would be useful since they were obviously in his card group.
While interesting, this really has no effect on the state of things.
